About us
Breathing Space in Schools is a creative, ethical and friendly organisation specialising in training children and their adults to become more mindful, positive and resilient in daily life.
We are a not for profit organisation.
Our founding director, Srivati, experienced first hand the fast pace and complexity of school life as a qualified schoolteacher. In 2002 she brought her years of practicing mindfulness and meditation to her work with young people and has now taught mindfulness and meditation in hundreds of schools. Srivati is a committed member of a well-founded Buddhist tradition that is adapted to contemporary life and this supports her values and strong ethical practice.
Breathing Space team members come from diverse professional backgrounds as teachers, social workers, educational consultants and all have been practicing mindfulness in their own lives for many years.
Breathing Space in Schools is affiliated with Breathing Space London, which is a secular project run by the London Buddhist Centre in Bethnal Green, East London. Breathing Space London teaches mindfulness-based approaches (MBAs) to help people look after their well being and mental health.
